Guitar lessons in your home, at a time to suit you

(lessons also available at certain times from my home in Rhiwbina)

Learn the music that you love in the way that suits you best...

Fun and relaxed guitar lessons with an enthusiastic, professional guitarist and guitar teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching privately and in schools.

Learn from an experienced touring performer, session guitarist, songwriter and composer, with a real love for teaching.

Learn using easy to read Tablature and Chord Boxes, or standard music notation.

Learn how to play the songs and style of music that you want to.

Whether it's pieces by your favourite artists that you want to learn, new techniques and styles you want to get to grips with, general help with your overall technique, understanding of music theory, or if you're a beginner just getting started, I can help you learn in the way that suits you best.

We can also have creative lessons, and learn about composing and songwriting, improvising, performing, and even music production and recording (using Logic Pro X or Garageband).

I play and teach all styles of guitar music, but I specialise in advanced folk guitar and fingerpicking techniques.

I'm happy to be flexible with lesson times - daytimes, evenings or weekends.

Pricing - Lessons are £27 per hour - or £22 for 40 minutes

Please note: I do not take students through grades.

Seb always enjoys his lessons and comes out full of enthusiasm and knowledge learnt from David whilst also having fun. David keeps the lessons interesting by using current songs, jamming and setting challenges while also teaching musical theory in an accessible way. Jess K

About me:

I'm a self employed guitarist and guitar teacher, and I really love helping people with their guitar playing, whatever the style of music, from absolute beginner to advanced. I live in South Rhiwbina, and teach guitar in students homes around north Cardiff.

Alongside teaching I also play acoustic guitar for wedding ceremonies and receptions: davidrobertsweddingguitarist.com & atmaweddingduo.com

I also write and record my own music (davidianroberts.com) which has been played on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show, and on BBC 6 Music by Cerys Matthews, Guy Garvey, Radcliffe and Maconie, and Gideon Coe. I have released 4 albums to date, and toured as a solo artist at venues across the UK.

Amongst other projects I have worked as a session guitarist at Abbey Road in London, performed at the Roundhouse in London, & the Manchester Albert Hall, & worked with Lighthouse Family on acoustic versions of some of their hit songs at Decoy Studios. https://youtu.be/af0apD2dcnE

My guitar playing on the song 'She Don't Dance' by the band Everyone You Know has also featured on computer game FIFA 2020, and the Netflix series Behind Her Eyes.

I have recently also contributed albums of production music to library companies, which have been used on television programmes in Germany and Denmark.
